Dolce Vita: Outstanding Italian Cuisine on the Shores of Sandy Ground

If you’re anything like me, you’re also a fan of local cuisine when you’re on holiday. If I’m in the Bahamas, I’m ordering conch and if I am in France, bring on the pastries and decadent desserts. So it probably isn’t your first instinct to check out an italian restaurant while you’re vacationing in Anguilla, because you’re not in Italy, after all. However, passing up the chance to enjoy the smells and flavors of Dolce Vita Restaurant would be a major mistake. Set on the energetic and vibrant shores of bustling Sandy Ground, Dolce Vita offers a breathtaking view of the Carribean Sea combined with 5-star Italian cuisine.

The highly ranked restaurant is owned, operated, and hosted by international restaurateur Abbi Ibrahim, the former manager of Anguilla’s Luna Rosa. Dolce Vita opened 9 years ago on Valentines Day, with the help of Abbi’s good friend and international Chef, Christopher Bacchiega. Abbi and Chris met when they worked together at a Michelin starred restaurant in Mantova, Italy. Back then Abbi was the sommelier and Chris was  grill cook.  Their combined expertise brings Italian fine dining to Anguilla at reasonable prices, that both locals and visitors can afford and enjoy. When asked why the name “Dolce Vita” Abbi responded “When you’re in Anguilla with 33 beautiful beaches, the only thing that I could think of was ‘The Sweet Life’, which in Italian means Dolce Vita. It’s a name that everyone is familiar with because of the classic movie.” Chris and Abbi’s synergy along with the stunning views of the shoreline at Sandy Ground, a wine list that could rival that of any New York restaurant and food worthy of a Michelin Star – the Sweet Life is indeed what you’ll experience during your meal.

Ironically, Abbi never intended to become a restaurateur but years later he says, “he fell in love with hospitality.” The menu at Dolce Vita has something for everyone. The most raved about appetizer is the GNOCCHI ALLA GORGONZOLA, made fresh every day and a favorite for vegetarians in your party. When you think Italian, do you think pasta? Well, think handmade pasta, crafted fresh daily in the Dolce Vita kitchen. Yet another highly recommended dish is the LA LASAGNA DI DOLCE VITA, which is also homemade and a clear guest favorite. Not in the mood for pasta, but still want Italian?  The CHICKEN PARMIGIANA includes a large pounded and breaded cutlet, smothered in sauce and cheese that just melts in your mouth. More in the mood for seafood? BRANZINO ALLA GRIGLIA is the way to go. A beautifully grilled and plated, whole sea bass served with Dolce’s very own balsamic. With these, daily specials and a host of other savory entrees to choose from, you cannot go wrong when you book dinner at Dolce Vita. Just make sure you leave room for the NUTELLA CHEESECAKE, a dreamy partnership of creamy cheesecake and coconut sauce. All of these well paired dishes and a wide variety of spirits, wines, and cocktails ensures that you will not leave Dolce Vita disappointed.

In addition to opening daily for dinner, Dolce Vita can be booked for private events. Whether it is a private party, wedding, reception, corporate event, birthday celebration or a host of other private events, you can get the place to yourself and enjoy an experience catered to your group. You’ll be the one to beat after a private event with Abbi as your host and Chef Chris in the kitchen. So make that reservation, you will not regret it.
